Adding a TXT Record in Cloudflare
This is about where to paste a record — for what the record should actually say, see the guide for your mail provider (Google Workspace, Microsoft 365) or generate a DMARC record.
- Log into the Cloudflare dashboard and select the domain.
- Open DNS → Records in the left sidebar.
- Click Add record.
- Set Type to
TXT. - Set Name to whichever host the record belongs at —
@for the root domain (SPF),_dmarcfor DMARC, orselector._domainkeyfor DKIM (the exact selector comes from whoever sends your mail). - Paste the record's value into Content.
- Leave Proxy status set to DNS only (grey cloud) — the orange "proxied" option is for web traffic and doesn't apply to mail-related TXT/MX records anyway, but it's a common place people get confused.
- Click Save.
Changes are usually live within minutes on Cloudflare, though full propagation can occasionally take a few hours.
Once it's live, check it free to confirm it's reading correctly.
